When you’re in a car accident, first and foremost, you want to stay at the scene and check the other passengers in your vehicle to make sure that they are okay, make sure that you are okay, see if anybody needs any medical attention, call the police, the ambulance, 9-1-1, and report the injury and accident.
If you’re not injured and can walk around, you can check your car and the property damage of the vehicle, and then talk to the other driver of the vehicle and any other people from the accident, get their names, phone numbers, addresses, driver’s license numbers, license plate numbers, their basic insurance information.
Be nice and courteous throughout the whole process. I know it’s a traumatic experience, and sometimes you have a lot of stress, but it always helps to be as friendly as possible. However, do not apologize for anything at the scene.
